I regret, as I'm in the middle of a move, my food pictorial could not be of my smoked pork roast (rubbed in a cumin and garlic dry rub, then slathered with home made sauce), home made cheese grits and greens. Sadly, the smoker is packed in a box awaiting a truck. But being the clever cook I am, I humbly submit my pig burgers. The answer to those needing pork 'que on the quick. The pig burgers are simply ground pork with salt, pepper and my very secret barbeque sauce (my own Mama and Daddy don't know what's in it). I grill them and top them with more sauce and pepper jack cheese. Served as a side is oven roasted home fries with garlic and onions. I'd consider it a prize simply to be pointed in the direction of an online distributor of honest to Pete grits. Up here in the sorry excuse for a "southern" state I live(in Northern Virginia, just outside DC), I'm lucky if I can get instant grits. Ick. This is primarily why I am moving, although I have my doubts about Missouri coming through in the hominy goodness department. Sigh. Good grits are important to a girl, no? But at least out there I won't have to move half of Georgia for greens and good pie. USAKarin says you can find some mighty tasty grits and other treats here: http://www.noramill.com/ |
